Rwanda – Cooperative Function and Governance
Growers First participated in a joint project funded by Texas A&M and others to evaluate the nature and effectiveness of coffee cooperatives in this area. After an extensive and in-depth assessment, we developed a programmatic approach aimed at duplicating the successes we have had in other parts of the world by creating the same kind of sustainable practices for the growers and governance guidelines for the cooperatives. Efforts are in process for implementing these practices in Rwanda and are also equally transferrable to other nearby countries.
