Wheaton College Students are nominated for a "Classy" Award!
Award night, Sept. 17th 2011
Four college students spent their college spring break following our Growers First coffee from crop to cup, exploring what can happen when a product’s consumer is connected to its producer. These students partnered with Growers First in Honduras to meet the growers that produce their coffee, witnessing first hand how developmental work can be done through business. The impact of these Wheaton students has spread throughout their campus and beyond.
Jeff Smith, Jacob Carter, Joseph Weber & Yaphet Tedla became interested in the Growers First organization through several meetings with past Wheaton college alumni and it became known that two of these alumni serve on the board for Growers First. These students inquired about Growers First and what it was about. The more they learned about how Growers First makes a difference in these rural coffee farmers lives, the more they wanted to know. They decided that the best way to learn about the plight of these coffee farmers was to spend time and live as they do. Please click here to read more and make sure to "Like" their story!. The more "Likes" the more the judges will consider them for the award!
