Health and Wellness
Most of the indigenous growers that we work with are in remote areas without access to basicmodern health and wellness practitioners. Growers First works as a safety net for families and their communities by providing:
- Medical and Dental Outreach – 3-4 day mobile medical/ dental clinics that travel to the remote mountain villages that can treat up to 2,000 patients
- Primary & preventative care instruction – training locals to do minor medical assessments and treatment.
- Compassionate care – providing pastoral and counseling assistance at the individual and family level
For many of these rural growers, Growers First provides the only professional medical and counseling attention they have access to. Growers First provides pharmaceuticals, eyeglasses, wheelchairs, and other medical and training supplies, depending on the need.
Medical / Dental Outreach
In remote agricultural areas of developing countries, medical and dental facilities are non-existent. Access to professional services frequently requires a long arduous journey. But growers and their families that can’t pay for these services will forego them anyway – resulting in unfavorable health situations in these regions.
Interceding on their behalf, Growers First and its partners provide mobile medical and dental missions to these remote areas. Pharmaceuticals and supplies are provided, ailments treated and diagnoses made. A temporary, makeshift treatment facility is set up at a location central to a village and medical/ dental professionals spend very long days treating as many patients as possible.
Additionally, Growers First partners with other organizations in some areas to provide wheelchairs, eyeglasses and other preventative or assistance products to people in need. Part of the Growers First effort to produce an overall improvement in the quality of life for growers is helping to take care of the health needs of its people.

Primary & Preventative Care Instruction
Beyond treating patients directly, designated villagers are also being trained in some primary medical skills which they can then use to assist in giving basic care to the community including:
- Treatment of minor injuries
- Preventative care practices
- Recognizing life threatening situations
Even these modestly trained individuals can save lives by identifying infection or symptoms of other treatable, but deadly diseases. Their instructions to others about preventative care can also stave off other diseases or conditions that could be life threatening.

Compassionate Care
At Growers First, we strive to create an environment where there is hope and a way to an improved quality of life. Living a subsistence life can be exhausting and rob the poor of their hopes and dreams. Increased income can provide some monetary improvement but only by addressing underlying emotional/ social issues, will overall improvement be achieved. Through pastoral care, Growers First provides assistance to the needy.
In addition to the above, Growers First provides other tangible care in the form of emergency aid, food, and shelter for those in dire need.
