Operational Overview
-
A need arises in a farming community that is brought to Growers First Attention
Assess
Needs come to Growers First from partner organizations at work in the communities, churches or missionaries, business partners or during Growers First observations while in-country. Working collaboratively with local farmers and leadership, assessment of the needs is verified and a commitment to jointly pursue a structured resolution is made.
-
Short and long term plans are developed to meets the needs of the farmers
Plan
Needs are prioritized and a time table is created where various Growers programs will be put in place to meet those needs over time. This systematic approach creates a foundation upon which other programs can be built leading to ongoing sustainability.
-
The financial requirements of the plan are determined and funds are budgeted
Allocate
Frequently, a comprehensive Growers First project will be three to five years in duration. This requires forward- looking budgeting to assure that all ongoing projects receive the necessary funding over their life span. As farmers and program cooperatives develop, they require less funding and become self sustaining.
-
Funds are distributed and partners mobilized to put the programs in place
Implement
Growers distributes funds to procure materials and supplies (seedlings, medical supplies, etc.) as well the services of professionals (doctors, agronomists, etc.) and other partner organizations (GOCA, etc.) to facilitate the implementation of the various programs. » click here

Periodic follow-up is conducted to measure progress against time-lines
Monitor
As farmers and communities progress in their development, new program components need to be added to further increase their crop incomes, the viability and sustainability of their ventures and to improve their quality of life.
